Museum of the Moment: The Tate Modern

In pure British style the Tate Modern does exactly what makes London fantastic, it incorporates historical architecture with modern design. Beautifully updated by the Swiss firm Herzog and De Meuron, the museum is housed in a former power plant designed by the architect Sir Giles Gilbert Scott in two phases between 1947 and 1963 and closed in 1982. The building's doors were opened to the public in 2000. Now, if that weren't enough, the collection itself is pretty impressive as well. Amongst my favorite pieces (including a few Twomblys, a few Gurskys, and the collection of Rothko's work that was originally made for the Four Seasons in New York) is a piece by Christian Marclay called Video Quartet.
